Day Seven - The Promise of the Indescribable Gift
Verse For The Day
2 Corinthians 9:15
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
More than seven centuries before the birth of Jesus Christ, the prophet Isaiah declares in chapter 9:6-7 the birth of a child, Immanuel, “God with Us”. The weight of the governments would be on His shoulders and He would embody attributes that would be so distinctive - A Wonderful Counsellor, A Mighty God, An Everlasting Father and a Prince of Peace. All so necessary today. “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” - 2 Corinthians 9:15.
The promise of a gift often remains hidden until its appointed time. I recall when my elder sibling received confidential notice of an award from Buckingham Palace. Instructed to keep it secret from us, the day came, months later when he informed us that he had received an OBE at the Palace. It was a deeply significant moment for our family. An honour that remains indescribable even today.
Just as my sibling’s honour remained hidden until the right time, so did God’s greatest promise. No one knew the moment, but when the time came, Jesus was revealed as the most significant and indescribable gift to humanity. Earthly honours fade, but this gift brings eternal hope and peace. The promise of Immanuel is as real today as it was centuries ago. God never changes.
Take time to pause and reflect:
* Be thankful for the birth of Jesus.
* Trust His promises are certain.
* Rest in His peace, even in the busyness.
