Day Five - Hold On, Don't Let Go

At Christmas time we are reminded of God’s love for us, in that He sent his one and only Son to earth to fulfil His promise….that He would save us.

Now, this promise was made hundreds of years before it became reality and I want to remind you today that we can hold onto God’s word and His promises.

There is a good chance that as you’re reading this, you too are waiting on an answer to prayer, so allow me to remind you of what God’s word says about His promises.

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20

Our challenge is to make sure we don’t let go of God's word, that we hold onto it tightly and close to our hearts. Even if you feel like you’re only holding on by your fingertips, don’t give up, for God is always on time.
As we wait for our breakthrough, our answer to prayer, I want to encourage you with a handful of promises from The Bible:

Isaiah 43:2
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."

Psalm 23:4
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Matthew 6:31-33
“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

As we get closer to Christmas, why not read a promise of God every day, think on it, pray into it, let it soak into your mind, changing the way you think and in turn how you go through your day.

I pray that you will rest on this truth, that our God is faithful and He sent us the perfect gift that is Jesus and we can celebrate with Him at the centre of our Christmas.

Hold on to God’s promises and don’t let go!
