Day 3
The death and resurrection of Jesus is the greatest miracle recorded in the Bible - a miracle that enabled the salvation of mankind and made a way for relationship with a living God. Are you believing for a miracle from God today? Waiting for an answer to prayer? Or for God to show up in a situation you're facing? As you wait in hope, take encouragement from the promise and power of the cross…
Jesus agonised in the garden of Gethsemane moments before his crucifixion. His soul was overwhelmed with sorrow at what was to come. Jesus, in His humanity, could have given in to His feelings but He didn't, He remained obedient to the will of His Father. And what followed? "An angel from heaven appeared to Him and strengthened Him." (Luke 22:42-43). The chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked Jesus as He hung on the cross, saying "Let this Christ, this King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." (Mark 15:32). They figured that if He really was the Son of the God then He would save Himself there and then. Jesus' life was spared; He did defeat death; just not in the way the people expected. What's the lesson here? We should never think we have the measure of God; if it is His will, He will do it, perhaps just not in the way we expect.
One of the last things Jesus said before He breathed his last was "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Mark 15:34). The moment Jesus died, He experienced separation from His Father and this separation was far worse than the physical agony He suffered. Yet for mankind, it meant there was no longer separation from God because of sin. Are we fully committed to the relationship now offered to us? God is always speaking into our situations but are we close enough to hear Him? Two women visited the tomb of Jesus following His death to find it empty. They were greeted by angels who asked them, 'Why do you look for the living among the dead?' (Luke 24:5). The women were confused but they shouldn't have been. Why? Because Jesus had already told them what was going to happen. Luke 24:8 says "Then they remembered His words" – I like to think of this as their "oh yeah!" moment. Perhaps you have already received a word from God for your situation but have simply missed it or forgotten - I pray that God reminds you of that word this Easter time.
May I encourage you to stay close to your heavenly Father, your miracle is on its way.
